Queen Street Tattoo Gold Leaf Sign Hull

A gold leaf window sign for the ever popular Queen Street Tattoo in Hull’s city centre. The black outlines of the sign are hand painted in reverse on the inside of the window before the letters and filigree are water gilded with 23ct matt and bright gold leaf, a technique known as a Boston gild. Variegated leaf is oil gilded before the blended blue shades are painted. The reverse of the sign is then backed up with black enamel paint and pencil varnished. Gold never tarnishes or fades, with care a genuine gold leaf window sign will last for decades.
